OREANDA-NEWS. US President Donald Trump by special decree rescued his ex-adviser Roger Stone, convicted of giving false testimony, not only from having to serve a prison sentence, but also to pay the rest of the fine. This is evidenced by a document published on the website of the US Department of Justice.

The Trump’s decree says: “I commute the entirety of the prison sentence imposed upon the said Roger Jason Stone, Jr. to expire immediately.” Also, he will not need to pay “any unpaid remainder of the $ 20,000 fine imposed.”

Stone was detained on January 25, 2019. The politician was accused of giving false testimony before the US Congress, as well as obstructing and falsifying testimony during an investigation by Prosecutor Robert Mueller about Russia’s interference in the US presidential election in 2016.

On February 20, a federal court in Washington sentenced Stone to 3.3 years in prison for false testimony, attempts to interfere with an investigation by the US Congress and intimidating a witness.
