OREANDA-NEWS. US President Donald Trump announced that he had pardoned his former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

“It is my Great Honor to announce that General Michael T. Flynn has been granted a Full Pardon. Congratulations to General Flynn and his wonderful family, I know you will now have a truly fantastic Thanksgiving!” Trump wrote on his Twitter page.

The head of state had previously warned that he could decide to pardon Flynn, who was accused of giving false testimony to the Federal Bureau of Investigation about contacts with the Russian side. The US President noted that he did not consider Flynn guilty and was outraged by the way the American judicial authorities treated him.

Democrats reacted angrily to Trump’s decision to pardon Flynn. Thus, the head of the US House Intelligence Committee, Adam Schiff, accused the current president of abusing his pardon powers.
