OREANDA-NEWS. US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to remove social networks’ protection from claims on content editing.

“There is no precedent in American history for so small a number of corporations to control so large a sphere of human interaction,” the politician told journalists before signing the document. According to him, decisions of social media about the veracity of messages, making changes to them or blocking them are essentially an editorial policy, and social networks act as publishers. “In these moments, Twitter ceases to be a neutral public platform – they become an editor with a viewpoint. And I think we can say that about others also, whether you’re looking at Google, whether you’re looking at Facebook, perhaps others,” Trump added.

Earlier, Twitter designated one of President’s posts as possibly containing false information and placed a warning sign under it. Trump threatened to strictly regulate or completely shut down social networks if they continue to drown out the voices of conservatives.
