OREANDA-NEWS. The President of the United States of America Donald Trump promised to destroy the Turkish economy if Ankara does something that he considers unacceptable.

“As I have stated strongly before, and just to reiterate, if Turkey does anything that I, in my great and unmatched wisdom, consider to be off limits, I will totally destroy and obliterate the Economy of Turkey (I’ve done before!),” the American leader wrote on his Twitter page.

According to Trump, Turkey together with Europe and other countries, should be responsible for the captive militants of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS, the terrorist organization banned in many countries, including the USA and the Russian Federation) and the members of their families.

American President also noted that Washington “has done far more than anyone could have ever expected” in the fight against ISIS. “It is time now for others in the region, some of great wealth, to protect their own territory,” Trump resumed.

In August 2019, the Turkish and American negotiations were held to create a security zone in northern Syria. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan threatened that if Washington drags out the formation of this zone, Ankara will begin a military operation against the Kurds supported by the United States. On October 5, Erdogan announced the start of the operation, then he reported about the deployment of additional Turkish troops to the Syrian border. The White House said the US forces would not support Turkey and participate in its military operation in northern Syria. Later Erdogan said that the United States are withdrawing their troops from northeastern Syria.
