OREANDA-NEWS. The disappearance of Maria Kalesnikava, a member of the Presidium of the Coordination Council for Power Transfer, is an attempt by the Belarusian authorities to disrupt the work of the organization. This was stated by the former presidential candidate Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya.

Earlier, the portal Tut.by, citing a witness, reported that on the morning of September 7, unknown persons in masks pushed Kalesnikava into a minibus and drove away.

“The regime is engaged in terror, there is no other name for it. The abduction of Maria Kalesnikava, [Press secretary o the Council] Anton Radniankou and [Executive secretary of the Council] Ivan Kravtsov is an attempt to disrupt the work of the Coordinating Council,” Tsikhanouskaya said. She stressed that such intimidation by the authorities will have the opposite effect and more people will start to participate in protest actions. Tsikhanouskaya added that the opposition will continue to fight for fair elections and release of prisoners.
