OREANDA-NEWS. During a visit to Brussels, former presidential candidate of Belarus, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, agreed with the European Union to provide a package of assistance to Minsk after democratic changes in the country.

This was reported by her press service on Telegram. “Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya has agreed that Belarus will be provided with a package of assistance after democratic changes,” the statement reads.

The politician ended her visit to Brussels, where she addressed the EU foreign ministers, met with EU High Representative Josep Borrell, European Parliament President David Sassoli, and addressed the members of the Parliament. She also met with the Belarusian diaspora and spoke at a rally in support of Belarus.

Tsikhanouskaya called on the European Union to support the call for new presidential election and release of political prisoners, not to recognize the regime, decisions and agreements of the incumbent head of state Alexander Lukashenko as legitimate, to recognize the Coordination Council of the opposition as a legal representative in negotiations, to expand sanctions on those guilty of falsifications, illegal detention and torture, as well as start international prosecution of these persons. “The people repressed by the regime, students, journalists, doctors, human rights activists will be able to count on the help of European countries,” the message of the press service says.
