OREANDA-NEWS. Former candidate for the presidency of Belarus Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya has been declared a wanted person in the territory of Russia. This follows from the database of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. “Basis for the search: the article of the Criminal Code,” it is noted.

According to TASS news agency, citing a law enforcement source, the politician was put on the wanted list in Belarus, but it will also be carried out in Russia, since it is an interstate search within the framework of an agreement concluded between the two countries. The interlocutor of the agency clarified that Tsikhanouskaya is not on the international wanted list.

In mid-August, Tsikhanouskaya announced the creation of the Coordination Council for Power Transfer in Belarus. President Alexander Lukashenko called its establishment an attempt to seize power. At the end of August, the Constitutional Court of Belarus declared the Coordination Council illegal, and the General Prosecutor’s Office of the republic, in connection with its creation, opened a criminal case under Article 361 of the Criminal Code on calls for action aimed at causing harm to the national security of the country. The maximum punishment for it is five years in prison.
