OREANDA-NEWS. Negotiations between Turkey and Ukraine on the supply of weapons should not affect its relations with Russia. This opinion was shared by the professor of the Turkish University Maltepe Hasan Unal in an interview with Lenta.ru.

"Western countries, the United States and others, will only set Ukraine against Russia. And we have no need to provoke Ukraine, we strive to maintain relations at a good level," he explained, pointing out a "big difference."

In this regard, the professor called on Moscow to come to terms with Ankara's intention to further develop ties with Kiev, since Ukraine will not be able to surpass Russia's military might because of "a couple of dozen Turkish drones".

The specialist believes that Turkey's good relations with Russia and Ukraine could help it become a mediator between the two countries.

"Our relations with Kiev do not pose a threat to Russia, and it should not see it in that light," Hasan Unal concluded.

Earlier, the press service of the leading manufacturer of Turkish drones Baykar announced the purchase of their products by Kiev. The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that such information does not cause joy, however, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu assured that the deal was not directed against Russia.
