OREANDA-NEWS. Turkish parliament passed a bill that allows the military to be sent to Libya.

The document was submitted to the Grand National Assembly on the 30th of December. 325 deputies from the ruling Justice and Development Party and Nationalist Movement Party voted in favor of the bill. 184 deputies from Republican People’s Party, Good Party, Felicity Party and the pro-Kurdish People’s Democratic Party opposed the initiative.

Earlier, media reported that Libyan Government of National Accord requested military assistance from Turkey in connection with the offensive of Libyan National Army led by Khalifa Haftar on Tripoli. “Air, ground and sea” military support was asked to defend the country’s capital. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan promised to help the Government of National Accord.
