OREANDA-NEWS. The leader of the Ukrainian party “Fatherland” Yulia Tymoshenko commented on her page on Facebook on the statements of the country’s President Volodymyr Zelensky about the reasons for her being in the opposition.

The head of state said earlier that Tymoshenko offered her own candidates for various public positions, but she wanted to get “sweet” places and therefore received refusals. So he explained Tymoshenko’s decision to go into opposition to the current government. According to Zelensky, this is what Tymoshenko does “every five years.”

Zelensky’s statements followed after Tymoshenko’s appearance on the ICTV channel, during which she announced that she would join the opposition. The president said that Tymoshenko “brought a list of her people for appointment to the “sweet” places” and promised support to the pro-presidential party “Servant of the People” in national parliament. Zelensky added that he refused because “the era of agreements has ended forever.” The president also joked that thanks to this, Tymoshenko looks good. “Such a figure! Do you know why? Because now we just don’t give her “sweets,” Zelensky said.

Tymoshenko answered that “there is another long-standing Ukrainian tradition. Every five years, some Ukrainian presidents think that they have hit a jackpot! And after that everything is going according to the same scenario… Well, you know it”. The leader of “Fatherland” also joked that she was waiting for Zelensky (who was a popular showman before his presidency) at corporate parties, “maybe with his own piano.”
