OREANDA-NEWS. Zerkalo nedeli newspaper reports that brothers Grigory and Igor Surkis, Ukrainian businessmen connected with football, filed a lawsuit in London Court of International Arbitration against former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

The ground of the suit is Poroshenko’s failure to comply with the terms of the contract on the purchase of shares of the TV channel 1 + 1. Its amount was to be 140 million US dollars. Being a head of state, the politician proposed to the Surkis to acquire a 25 % stake, but then changed his mind, though the contract had been already signed.

According to the lawyers connected with that deal, it was concluded in the British legal framework, therefore businessmen filed a suit to the London Court. The case has already been accepted for consideration, the first meeting will tentatively be held in May 2020.
