OREANDA-NEWS. The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Vadym Prystaiko, at one time appealed to Germany for military assistance, but was refused. He told about this in an interview with the German media group RND published on December 27.

“I hope that Berlin will reconsider this restrained position and decide to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities,” the diplomat said.

According to Prystaiko, the European Union and, in particular, Germany have done a lot for Ukraine, but this was not enough to stop the deaths. The Minister stressed that he appreciates the contribution of German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel to the settlement of the situation in southeastern Ukraine, but Kiev authorities are waiting for more support.
