OREANDA-NEWS. Ukraine lost Crimea due to the actions of Kiev in relation to the residents of the peninsula. This was stated by former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, Anna German.

“Crimeans will never dream of returning to Ukraine, to a country that does not even give them water in the summer heat,” she said.

According to German, the Donbass can wait for the same scenario, since Ukraine does not seek to implement the Minsk agreements, and the people of this region understand that “in a non-native country there is more protection and confidence in the future” than in the native state.

Crimea became part of Russia after a referendum in March 2014. For accession to the Russian Federation, 96.77 % of citizens voted. Moscow has repeatedly emphasized that the procedure was carried out in strict accordance with international law. Ukraine does not recognize the results of the vote and still considers the peninsula to be own territory.
