OREANDA-NEWS. The USA imposes new sanctions against Iran, which will affect the mining sector, construction, metal and textile production, as well as some officials.

This was stated by the head of the US Treasury Steven Mnuchin at a joint briefing with the Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Washington. Sanctions were imposed in response to Iran’s missile strike against US bases and allies of America. In addition to restrictions against sectors of the economy, individual sanctions will also be introduced. They should touch upon 17 companies involved in the production and export of metal from Iran, ships carrying goods from its territory and Iranian officials involved in attacks and human rights violation. According to Mnuchin, sanctions are connected with intention to stop the terrorist activities of the Iranian regime around the world.

Pompeo added that US authorities want Iran to “act like a normal country.”
