OREANDA-NEWS. President Joe Biden doubts the success of the impeachment of his predecessor, Donald Trump. He said this on Tuesday, January 26, in an interview with CNN. Biden stressed, that he supports impeachment against Trump, but believes that he will not gain enough votes in the US Senate.

To recognize impeachment, two-thirds of the members of Congress must vote for it. At least 17 Republicans are expected to oppose Trump. Biden considers such an outcome unlikely.

The resolution to impeach Trump was approved by the House of Representatives on January 13. On Monday evening, January 25, it was submitted to the Senate. The impeachment process will begin after February 8.

Trump is the first US president in history to be impeached twice. This time he is accused of sedition. On January 6, supporters of Donald Trump stormed into Congress to prevent the approval of the results of the presidential election. As a result, several people were killed. If Trump is impeached, he will lose the opportunity to hold public office, including again running for president of the United States.
