OREANDA-NEWS. US authorities will not “defund the police”. This was stated by American President Donald Trump during a meeting with law enforcement officials in the White House.

“There won’t be defunding. There won’t be dismantling of our police, and there’s not going to be any disbanding of our police. Our police have been letting us live in peace, and we want to make sure we don’t have any bad actors in there,” the head of state explained. Trump noted that, in his opinion, 99 % of police officers are “great people.”

The web portal Hill writes that earlier, mayors of the cities of New York and Washington, Bill De Blasio and Muriel Bowser, promised to cut police budgets. In Minneapolis (Minnesota State), where Afro-American George Floyd died after being detained by police on May 25 and where mass protests began, the city council proposed to dismantle the local police.
