OREANDA-NEWS. The US State Department welcomed the decision of the Slovak authorities to expel three Russian diplomats.

The official representative of the American agency, Morgan Ortagus, wrote about this on her Twitter page. She noted that the decision of Bratislava was a signal that the country “will not tolerate Russia’s politically-motivated criminal acts on Slovak soil or in Europe.”

On August 10, the Slovak portal Acktuality reported that the country had decided to expel three Russian diplomats due to suspicions of working for Russian intelligence. In addition, according to the sources of the publication, they are suspected of involvement in the murder of a native of Chechnya Zelimkhan Khangoshvili in Berlin in 2019. The diplomats must leave Slovakia by 13 August.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that Moscow would give a mirror response to the expulsion of the employees of the Russian diplomatic mission by the Slovak authorities.
