OREANDA-NEWS. The United States will impose sanctions against Russia until it returns Crimea to Ukraine.

This was claimed by State Department Spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus on January 31. “We will continue to impose sanctions on Russia until it commits to peace in the Donbass and ends its occupation of Crimea,” she wrote on Twitter after the visit of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to Kiev.

Pompeo also spoke out on this subject, writing on Twitter that sanctions against Russia will remain in effect until “the actions that led to these tragic deaths [In the Donbass. – Ed.] cease.”

A day earlier, the Russian Embassy in the United States announced that Washington’s new sanctions connected with Crimea would not be able to change Moscow’s policy. According to diplomats, restrictions undermine the basis for mutually beneficial cooperation.
