OREANDA-NEWS. Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation. Chinese leader announced the need for close strategic cooperation between Beijing and Moscow in a rapidly changing international situation.

“The current international situation is changing very quickly. China and Russia are comprehensive strategic partners, close strategic contacts and interaction are extremely necessary,” Xi Jinping stated. He noted that Beijing is ready to continue to provide mutual support to Moscow, to oppose external interference, protect state sovereignty, security and protect the common interests of the two countries.

According to the President of China, mutual assistance and support of China and Russia during the coronavirus pandemic filled the relations of the countries with a new strategic content. He believes that Moscow and Beijing should strengthen cooperation in high technology, the development of vaccines and other drugs.

“China is ready to conduct close coordination and interaction with Russia in the UN and in other multilateral formats, defend the principle of multilateralism, oppose hegemony and the policy of unilateral actions, together defend international justice,” Xi Jinping concluded.
