OREANDA-NEWS. The Armenian Foreign Ministry said that the joint Turkish-Azerbaijani exercises in the Lachin district hinder efforts to establish long-term peace, security and stability in the region. This is stated in a message on the website of the Foreign Ministry of the republic.

According to the representative of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, holding such exercises violates the points of implementation of the trilateral statement of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia.

«Conducting Turkish-Azerbaijani exercises near the borders of Armenia and Artsakh (the Armenian name of Karabakh), as well as the Lachin corridor, we assess as an action that harms steps towards de-escalation, does not correspond to the spirit of the agreements and undermines efforts to consolidate lasting peace, security and stability», the Foreign Ministry said.

Earlier, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry announced the start of Azerbaijani-Turkish tactical exercises with live firing in the Lachin district. The exercises are conducted in accordance with the agreement on military cooperation in order to establish interaction during combat operations.
