OREANDA-NEWS Argentina is facing a difficult economic situation today. This was stated by Argentine President Alberto Fernandez before the talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to Fernandez, Argentina has been focused on the United States since the early 90s, and in this regard, the country's economy is dependent on Washington.

"And I speak very stubbornly and persistently for Argentina to get rid of this dependence on the IMF and the United States and for us to open up new opportunities. In particular, cooperation with Russia is very important for us," Fernandez said.

Later it became known that the President of Argentina thanked Vladimir Putin for providing coronavirus vaccines, saying that the people of Argentina appreciate such help and support at a difficult moment. In turn, the Russian president thanked the head of Argentina for the fact that his country was the first in the western hemisphere to register the Russian vaccine "Sputnik V" against the coronavirus.

Also at a personal meeting, Putin expressed hope for continued cooperation and good relations with Argentina. The Russian president mentioned a joint trip with Fernandez to Beijing for the Olympic Games.
