OREANDA-NEWS Federation Council member Alexei Pushkov in his Telegram channel reacted to Israel's refusal to satisfy the US request to allow Germany to supply Spike anti-tank missiles manufactured under an Israeli license to Ukraine.

"Complex balances of interests and involvement in the algebra of geopolitics of many countries is one of the most important features of the current crisis, unlike the classic Caribbean 1962, when the confrontation was bilateral — the United States against the USSR," the senator wrote.

According to the Axios portal, the Director General of the Israeli Defense Ministry, Amir Eshel, rejected the Pentagon's request, explaining that the state would only supply Ukraine with "non-lethal weapons." Israel is also concerned that the supply of Spike missiles could lead to "Russia harming Israel's security interests in Syria."
