OREANDA-NEWS. Russian President Vladimir Putin speaking at the Russia Calling! Investment forum answered a question about his possible re-election as head of state in 2024. A fragment of the president's speech is published by RIA Novosti.

“As for my plans, do you know where the focus is? The trick is that, in accordance with the Constitution, I have the right to be elected for a new term. Whether I will do it or not, I haven’t decided for myself yet, ”the head of state said.

At the same time, Putin refused to consider his re-election "a goal for Russia," but noted that the very existence of his right to be re-elected stabilizes the situation in the country.

In addition, Putin approved the decision of his American counterpart Joe Biden, who had previously announced his intention to run in the US presidential elections in 2024.

According to the head of state, the presence of such an opportunity in itself stabilizes the situation in the country, but re-election is not the goal.

After Putin was assistant to the rector of Leningrad State University on international issues, then moved to the team of the chairman of the Leningrad City Council Anatoly Sobchak. In August 1996, he moved to Moscow, where at various times he held the positions of Deputy Head of Presidential Affairs, Head of the FSB and Secretary of the Security Council.

The next vote will take place in 2024. When asked about a successor, the president prefers not to answer, reminding that it is the citizens who decide.
