OREANDA-NEWSThe new documentary by American director Oliver Stone “In the Fight for Ukraine” included his next interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin. It's reported by the press service of the Russian TV channel. In a conversation with the director, the head of state spoke about his attitude to the policies pursued by the Ukrainian authorities. For example, the incident in the Kerch Strait, which occurred in November last year, Putin believes, was specially arranged by the ex-president Petro Poroshenko during his election campaign.

“He knew that voters in the east, in the south of the country wouldn't support him, and used this provocation to exacerbate the situation, to introduce a special position. And I have reason to believe that he wanted to introduce a special position in general throughout the country, and maybe postpone the elections. I wanted to hold onto power at all costs”, Putin said.

The Russian News Agency, citing the co-author of the film, documentary director Igor Lopatenka, points out that the premiere of the film will take place on July 19 on the Russian TV channel. Lopatenok said that the film crew had interviewed Putin in mid-June, and the editing took place as soon as possible. The world premiere of the documentary took place at the 65th Italian Film Festival in Taormina. On it, the film won the grand prix.

This isn't the first Oliver Stone film in which he interviews the Russian leader. In 2016, he released the documentary “Ukraine on fire” about the events that took place in the country in 2014. It included interviews with Putin and the ex-president of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych. In 2017, the director presented to the public a four-part film about Vladimir Putin “Interview with Putin”.
