OREANDA-NEWS. Russian President Vladimir Putin has held a telephone conversation with Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel in which he assessed the actions of the Ukrainian authorities. This was stated on the Kremlin website.

The two sides discussed in detail the prospects for resolving the conflict in the south-east of Ukraine, as well as the migration situation on the borders of Belarus with the EU member states.

The Russian President, in particular, assessed in principle Kyiv's destructive actions that have led to an impasse in the negotiating process to resolve the internal Ukrainian crisis. He stressed the need for the Ukrainian authorities to fully and unconditionally implement the Minsk Package of Measures.

At the request of his interlocutor, Vladimir Putin informed about Russia's initiative on long-term legally enshrined security guarantees to prevent NATO from further advancing eastwards and the deployment of weapons systems threatening Russia in neighbouring states, especially in Ukraine.

Earlier, Russian ambassador to the USA Anatoliy Antonov urged Washington to remind Kiev that revision of the Minsk agreements was unacceptable. He added that Moscow considered the continued militarization of Ukraine and the fact that Western troops were present on its territory unacceptable. He also said that Ukraine's accession to NATO was unacceptable.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also pointed to the need to "force" Kiev to implement the Minsk agreements. In his turn, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that it was Moscow that wanted the agreements to fail.
