OREANDA-NEWS. Vladimir Putin has received an invitation to international climate talks, the president's special representative for climate change, Ruslan Edelgeriev, told «RIA Novosti». As it became known earlier, the event will be held under the auspices of the United Nations in Glasgow from 1 to 12 November. In 2020, it was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

«Whether he goes or not will be decided, of course, by him personally. At least, there will be a deputy prime minister, and there will definitely be a ministerial level. This conference will be quite scandalous in it's intensity. In Glasgow, the final stage of agreeing on the sixth article of the Paris Agreement will be held. It will finally be accepted or not accepted», Edelgeriev said.

The Paris Agreement is the first global climate document signed by more than 190 countries in December 2015 and defines a global action plan to curb global warming. A complete phase-out of fossil fuels is not expected, but all parties have agreed to take measures to reduce emissions, re-equip technology and adapt to changes on the planet. In addition, the share of renewable energy sources should increase.
