"Last year, the volume of transportation along the Northern Sea Route reached 20 million tons. In order for this global transport corridor to work at full capacity, we will develop communications and coastal infrastructure, including port facilities, navigation aids, meteorological observations, and security of commercial navigation. of our foreign partners to work together on the creation of hub ports at the end points of the route. I am referring to the Murmansk transport hub and port infrastructure in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsk "In addition, we intend to modernize the harbors of the Arctic coast, including the possibility of organizing river-sea transportation," Putin said at the Arctic Forum. 

“With regard to political relations, this is certainly a positive process, although you know, I said in my speech that we did not interrupt our contacts on Arctic subjects. We just had a bilateral meeting with the President of Finland and recalled that we hold these meetings on a regular basis, "Putin said. "The fact that the Arctic subjects helps us understand the need for cooperation and solving common tasks is, of course, very good," the president added.
