OREANDA-NEWS. The state of health of former Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili on the 27th day of the hunger strike has deteriorated sharply, the politician may not survive the hospitalization. This was stated by the Ombudsman of the Verkhovna Rada, Lyudmila Denisova, after she visited the oppositionist in the Rustavi prison, reports the portal Gordon.

According to her, there is a risk that doctors will not be able to resuscitate the ex-president during hospitalization or even inside the prison if the hunger strike continues. “They will be able to get a blood transfusion when needed, or a heart massage. If it is necessary to restore vital organs, (...) they will not be able to do this, and they are unlikely to be able to take them to the hospital, ”Denisova said.

She noted that the former head of state still refuses to be transferred to a prison hospital, demanding a referral to a civilian clinic, and intends to resist in the event of force-feeding. “An intensive care brigade is on duty in the colony,” added the Ukrainian Ombudsman.

Earlier it became known that Saakashvili needed resuscitation in prison amid exhaustion due to a hunger strike. After the intervention of doctors, the politician's condition was stabilized, however, as experts say, his life is still under great threat.
