OREANDA-NEWS. NATO-RF relations, relations between the West and Russia do not look good, they could be better, Danish Ambassador to the RF Karsten Sendergård said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“Not only NATO-RF relations, relations between the West and Russia in general do not look good. Speaking frankly, they could have been better. We have what we have,” the diplomat answered the question of how the current NATO-RF crisis affects bilateral relations between Denmark and the Russian Federation.

According to him, "the statements made at the NATO meeting in Riga were clear."

"Yes, there are problems in bilateral relations, there are constants that we must not forget about and which we must work on," said Sendergard.

The ambassador also stressed that in 2022 there will be a summit at which NATO's new strategic concept will be presented.

"It is obvious that Russia will be a part of this concept. While there is a reflection," the diplomat added.

The NATO Foreign Ministers Summit was held in Riga on November 30 and December 1.

On October 6, the NATO Secretariat officially notified the Russian side of the decision of the Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to revoke the accreditation of eight employees of the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation from November 1, and also to reduce the total number of the diplomatic mission to 10 people from the same number.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that NATO has broken the mechanisms of dialogue with Russia, relations with the alliance are depressing.
