OREANDA-NEWS  The Russian government has allowed foreign students from countries with a low prevalence of coronavirus infection to return to full-time education in Russia.

The Ministry of Education and Science has developed a procedure for the entry of students from abroad. The Russian authorities will determine whether foreign students can return to universities using a special algorithm. Rospotrebnadzor will regularly update the list of such states.

Students will be required to inform their institution of their intention to return ten days prior to their planned arrival date. They will be required to take a coronavirus infection test three days before arriving in Russia. Also, students will have to take a second test in Russia and until its results are on self-isolation.

In November 2020, it was reported that foreign students began to be expelled from Russian universities, since they can't return to the country due to closed borders and attend classes. About two thousand students have asked the Russian government to allow them to return to Russia and to be given the opportunity to continue their studies on Russian territory. They can't come to the country on their own, since studies are not the basis for crossing the border.

Later, the Minister of Education and Science of Russia Valery Falkov denied the information about the massive deductions of foreign students.
