Russia Received Requests for 1.2 Billion Doses of Coronavirus Vaccine
OREANDA-NEWS. The Russian Federation received requests for 1.2 billion doses of the vaccine against coronavirus infection. This was announced on September 24 by the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Kirill Dmitriev.
According to him, the authorities of 20 countries announced their desire to purchase the developed by the Gamaleya National Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology drug named Sputnik V. In particular, negotiations are underway with the states of Latin America, the Middle East and Asia.
Dmitriev stressed that in this case, the vaccine is planned to be produced together with foreign partners. “Together… we are ready to ensure the production of over 500 million doses of vaccine per year in five countries, and we plan to increase production capacity even more,” RDIF chief explained.
He noted that the volume of the medicine produced in Russia is intended exclusively for the domestic market. The Russian Federation will actually become the first in the world to provide the entire population of the country with a vaccine against COVID-19, Dmitriev resumed.
