OREANDA-NEWS. The participants of the "Moscow format" on the problems of Afghanistan called on the United Nations (UN) to convene a donor commission for socio-economic assistance to the republic captured by the Taliban movement (banned in the Russian Federation). This was stated by the special representative of the President of Russia for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov, the Telegram channel of the agency Sputnik.Afghanistan.

According to Kabulov, the convening of such a commission will contribute to the reconstruction of Afghanistan. He also noted that at a closed meeting of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov with the Taliban, the radicals promised to adhere to the guarantees given to the world community after coming to power.

Kabulov also noted that Lavrov clarified in a dialogue with the Taliban that an inclusive government — one of the most important conditions for recognizing the power of radicals - should consist of various Afghan ethnic groups and political groups. The diplomat also said that the Russian Foreign Minister discussed with the Taliban the observance of human rights in Afghanistan.

Lavrov's meeting with the Taliban delegates took place before the start of the Moscow format meeting, which takes place on October 20 at the capital's President Hotel. After the closed-door talks, Lavrov promised that Russia would continue to export students enrolled in Russian universities from Afghanistan. The minister also announced a batch of humanitarian aid that the Russian Federation will send to the republic in the coming days.
