OREANDA-NEWS. The Russian government has decided to close trade missions in Ukraine and Lithuania. This is stated in the decree published on November 11 on the Internet portal of legal information. “The government of the Russian Federation decides to liquidate the trade mission of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Lithuania and the trade mission of the Russian Federation in Ukraine,” the document reads.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade made a proposal to close the mentioned offices in September. The recalled recalled that in the summer 2020 the Ukrainian government terminated the agreement on the mutual establishment of trade offices with Russia. As for Lithuania, experts of the Ministry considered the work of the mission unpromising, taking in account a significant drop in trade: in the first half of 2020, it decreased by a third.

Thus, after their liquidation, Russia will have trade missions in 58 countries, TASS new agency notes.

This year, the Russian Federation will establish a trade mission in the Syrian capital Damascus. The Ministry of Industry and Trade was instructed to approve the structure and staffing of the office.
