OREANDA-NEWS. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that from November 1, Moscow will suspend the work of its mission to NATO. Also, the Russian Federation is shutting down the NATO information bureau in Moscow.

Now NATO should contact the Russian ambassador to Belgium for contacts with Russia. The activities of the NATO military liaison mission in Moscow are also suspended. The accreditation of its employees is also withdrawn from November 1.

The decision was made after the alliance revoked the accreditation of Russian diplomats. At the same time, no explanation of the reasons for such a step has yet been made.

According to Lavrov, the statement of the Russian ministry "should be disseminated literally at this moment."

Prior to that, it became known that NATO had decided to expel eight Russian diplomats from Brussels. At the same time, the secretary general of the alliance said that there are no specific reasons for this, the decision is connected in general with the actions of Moscow.

At the same time, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the incident, noted that the fact of the expulsion of diplomats does not allow the Russian side to build further illusions about the resumption of the dialogue.
