OREANDA-NEWSDoctor of Biological Sciences Tatyana Tolstikova said that the cholinesterase inhibitors, which allegedly poisoned Alexei Navalny, are used in the treatment of psychiatric diseases, their possible use as a poison is unlikely to be effective due to the difficulties in determining the dosage.

The Berlin clinic Charite on August 24 reported that the data of the clinical examination of Navalny showed that he was intoxicated with a substance from the group of cholinesterase inhibitors. The specific toxic substance is not yet known, but its effect on the body is allegedly "proven many times."

"If a person took these drugs, then there may be an overdose and intoxication of the body. It depends on whether the person took the drug himself as prescribed by the doctor, or he could have been given an overdose, as we say. Cholinesterase inhibitors are drugs that are used in neurology, and in psychiatry. They are divided into several groups ", - said Tolstikova.

She explained that as drugs, cholinesterase inhibitors are used to improve the transmission of nerve impulses, are involved in the processes of restoring nerve impulse signals between neurons. They are usually used for Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease.
