Russia is ready to cooperate with other BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) in the production of vaccines against COVID-19, Russian President Vladimir Putin said. According to the politician, the Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology can deploy the mass production of the vaccine Sputnik V in China and India.

“There are Russian vaccines, they work, they work efficiently and safely. The question is to carry out mass production. This is not a problem, this is an issue that we are facing… It is very important to unite efforts for the mass production of these products for a wide civil circulation,” Putin stated at the BRICS summit held in a videoconference format.

The politician added that the Russian Direct Investment Fund has agreed with Indian and Brazilian partners on clinical trials of Sputnik V, and with pharmaceutical companies in China and India to open vaccine production centers in these countries. The medication will be produced not only for their own needs, but also for third countries.
