OREANDA-NEWS. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation claimed that the fighter Su-27 did not violate the Danish border. The military department emphasized that the flight of the Su-27 was carried out over the neutral waters of the Baltic Sea. This statement was made in response to accusations by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

On August 31, NATO Allied Air Command reported that a Russian fighter jet had intercepted an American bomber B52 in international airspace over the Baltic Sea. The aircraft of the US Air Force flew towards the Danish island of Bornholm. According to the NATO Air Command, Su-27 took off from Kaliningrad, followed the B52, and entered the airspace of the Kingdom of Denmark.

The bomber B52 took part in the exercise Allied Sky, during which six military planes flew over all 30 member countries of the alliance within one day.
