OREANDA-NEWS. On July 14, in the Barents and Black seas, reconnaissance aircrafts of the United States and Norway were discovered; Russian fighter jets rose to intercept them.

This was reported by the National Defense Management Center of the Russian Federation. “On July 14, Russian airspace control instruments over the waters of the Barents and Black seas discovered air targets flying in the direction of the state border of the Russian Federation,” the statement of the agency says.

Russian fighters took off. They escorted reconnaissance planes and a drone at a safe distance, and then returned to air base. The National Defense Management Center reported that “air target… were identified as reconnaissance aircrafts: P-3C Orion of the Norwegian Air Force (above the Barents Sea), reconnaissance planes R-8A Poseidon… RC-135… unmanned aerial vehicle MQ-9A Reaper of the US Air Force (over the Black Sea).”

It is noted that foreign airplanes did not violate the state border of Russia, and flights were carried out in accordance with the international rules for the use of airspace.
