OREANDA-NEWS. Moscow endorses the Taliban's statement that they are ready to enter into dialogue with other political forces in Afghanistan and will do everything possible to encourage such processes. Russia will seek to ensure that the intentions of the Taliban to conduct a dialogue are embodied in concrete actions, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"And we also welcomed the Taliban's statements that they want to start a conversation with other political powers in Afghanistan. In this regard, ir was announced about a meeting in which Abdullah Abdullah, Chairman of the Supreme Council of National Reconciliation, and Hamid Karzai, former President Afghanistan, and the chairman of the Islamic Renaissance Party Hekmatyar will take part," the Russian minister told at a press conference with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity (PNU) of Libya, Najla Mankush.

He added that Moscow proceeds from the fact that all members of this group have announced their desire to meet and negotiate in the interests of the Afghan people.

"We will encourage such plans in every possible way and strive to translate these intentions into concrete deeds," Lavrov summed up.

The "Moscow format" on Afghanistan has the most prospects for creating conditions for restarting the inter-Afghan dialogue, and Moscow is ready to support it, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

“I am convinced that the Moscow format has the greatest prospect, since the situation has already acquired a regional dimension. Neighboring countries and countries that are located further from Afghanistan are responding to it,” the Russian Foreign Minister said.

He recalled that all five Central Asian states, China, Pakistan, India, the United States, Iran, Russia and the Afghan conflicting parties participate in the "Moscow format".
