OREANDA-NEWS. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has published a video of a test of the hypersonic cruise missile Zircon. The recording shows a launch from a ship from different angles.

As RBC news agency was told in the Ministry, Zircon was tested on the evening of October 6. From the waters of the White Sea, the frigate Admiral Gorshkov fired a Zircon missile at a sea target located in the Barents Sea. According to the military, the shell with a direct hit successfully stroke the target at a distance of 450 kilometers. The flight speed was more than Mach 8 (over 9.5 thousand kilometers per hour).

General Valery Gerasimov, the head of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, informed Russian President Vladimir Putin about the successful test of Zircon. The head of state called the work on the Zircon systems and the successful test of this missile a big event “not only for the Armed Forces, but for the whole of Russia.”
