OREANDA-NEWS. TASS news agency reports, citing a source, that the nuclear submarine Knyaz Vladimir of the project 955A Borei went to sea for control tests before being commissioned in the Russian Navy.

On May 12, she left the port of Severodvinsk and went to the White Sea. According to preliminary data, Knyaz Vladimir may be taken into combat duty by the end of this month.

In October 2019, the submarine, as part of the tests, for the first time launched the ballistic missile Bulava from underwater in the White Sea on the training ground located on the Kamchatka Peninsula.

In August 2019, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to develop a symmetrical response to US actions after the expiration of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty. On August 20, the Pentagon conducted tests of the previously banned missile Tomahawk, successfully hitting a target at a distance of 500 kilometers.
