OREANDA-NEWS. Sberbank is discussing with the Russian authorities the provision of its platform for public services, including the issuance of electronic passports.  This was announced by the first deputy chairman of the board of Sberbank Alexander Vedyakhin in an interview on the eve of the Eastern Economic Forum.  He added that Sberbank today is in close contact with government agencies.

“We actively interact with various government agencies, conduct training, share our experience in the development and implementation of digital solutions. Now we are at the stage of discussion and are working on the possibility that Sberbank will provide its platform for government services. We will be able to arrange the issuance of electronic passports, if possible  we will be provided with the state and the legislation of the Russian Federation, "said Vedyakhin.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Maxim Akimov in July announced that the introduction of an electronic passport will begin in 2020 in Moscow, and paper passports will no longer be issued in 2022.  He explained that an electronic passport is a plastic card with a chip that contains basic information about the owner: name, registration, driver’s license, SNILS and some other information.  It is assumed that the card will be associated with the application for the phone.
