OREANDA-NEWS. The State Duma adopted a law banning the propaganda of laughing gas. According to RIA Novosti, this document was introduced by Deputy Natalya Kostenko in 2018. According to this project, to ensure the safety of life and health of the population, from January 1, 2021, trade in nitrous oxide is limited. In addition, it is prohibited to manufacture, sell and promote it "not for medical, industrial or technical use" as stated in the document. It is also prohibited to use laughing gas for other purposes, but for amusement due to changes in the state of the body.

As the speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin noted earlier, laughing gas is now actively used in nightclubs as entertainment. This became possible due to the absence in the legislation of a direct prohibition on the sale of nitrous oxide for other purposes. According to him, those who sell nitrous oxide. Therefore, the situation required amending the legislation.

Earlier, the State Duma introduced fines for the propaganda of laughing gas, which can reach 150 thousand rubles. The bill was adopted by the State Duma in the first reading. It implies a ban on the distribution of nitrous oxide for non-technical and non-medical purposes, as well as the introduction of liability for its illegal advertising and promotion of its use.
