OREANDA-NEWS. The outskirts of the capital of the unrecognized Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh, Stepanakert, were fired; about eight shells exploded in the area. This was reported by a correspondent of TASS news agency. Several shells hit the mountainside east of the city, where there are no civilian facilities, he clarified.

RIA Novosti reporter informed that in Stepanakert, the sounds of powerful volleys are heard, but the air-raid sirens do not work. Video shot by the journalist shows traces of several missiles fired by the air defense.

The outskirts of Stepanakert have not been shelled for several days; the last time shelling was reported on the night of October 11.

The Armenian Defense Ministry reported that battles are taking place in the southern direction of the contact line in Nagorno-Karabakh. “Hard stubborn battles are taking place in the south,” Artsrun Hovhannisyan, a spokesman for the agency wrote on Facebook.
