The officer said that the fighters of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham terrorist organization from the evening of January 16 tried to break through the positions of government forces near ​​several settlements of Idlib and Aleppo. Syrian army managed to hold their positions.

“When repelling the attacks, about 50 militants were destroyed, seven pickups with large-calibre machine guns mounted on them, and one “jihad-mobile,” Borenkov reported.

He added that on January 17, militants, using unmanned aerial vehicles, attacked positions of government troops in the city of Aleppo. 2 Syrian soldiers died, 4 were injured. In total, in clashes with militants over the past 24 hours, 12 Syrian soldiers were killed and 24 were wounded.
