The Area of Fires in Siberia Decreased by a Quarter

OREANDA-NEWS The area of natural fires in Siberia and the Far East decreased by 25% over the week. Itwas told by the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry.
"Strengthening the group in the Siberian and Far Eastern federal districts allowed eliminating natural fires in more than one million hectares in a week, the total area of the fire has decreased by 25% since July 30," the agency’ spokesman said. He noted that all natural fires in specially protected areas have been eliminated.
The main efforts of firefighters are concentrated in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Irkutsk Region and Yakutia.
“The Russian Emergencies Ministry has special control over two forest fires operating in the five-kilometer zone on the territory of the Irkutsk region. There are no threats to human settlements and economic facilities,” the agency’s representative said.
