OREANDA-NEWS. The New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio held a meeting with the police chief Dermot Shea and the head of police counterterrorism department John Miller. They discussed additional security measures to be taken to protect the megalopolis in connection with the killing of Iranian General Qasem Suleimani. De Blasio wrote on Twitter about “immediate steps… to protect key… locations from any attempt by Iran or its terrorist allies to retaliate against America.” “We will have to be vigilant against this threat for a long time to come," the mayor concluded.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) reported that it was monitoring the situation in Iran. “While there is no credible threat to Los Angeles, the LAPD is monitoring the events developing in Iran. We will continue to communicate with state, local, federal and international law enforcement partners regarding any significant intel that may develop,” department’s Twitter page reads.
