OREANDA-NEWS. The court in the city of Globino sentenced to real terms of staff of the Belarusian steel works (BMZ) participating in the protests against the presidential election results, which blocked the shops of the enterprise, the Prosecutor General of the Republic announced on Friday, February 5.

One person involved in the case received three years in a general regime colony, two more-2.5 years each. They were accused of organizing group actions, that grossly violate public order, involve disobedience to the legitimate demands of government officials, caused disruption of transport and organization, as well as active participation in such actions.

According to the investigation, on August 17, 2020, the defendants entered the BMZ industrial zone and let outsiders in. After that, they blocked the passage and stopped the traffic, that delivered raw materials to the workshops. «This led to the forced shutdown of the electric arc furnaces», the Prosecutor General's Office said.

In Belarus, since August 9, 2020, there are protests against the results of the presidential election. The winner is the current head of state Alexander Lukashenko, who has held this post since 1994.
