OREANDA-NEWS. The US Department of Commerce confirmed a breach of the computer network of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration of the Treasury. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is investigating the case.

The press service of the agency told TASS that the Department asked the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the FBI to conduct an investigation. Foreign government-backed hackers have stolen Treasury’s data, journalists’ interlocutor added.

CISA told TASS about interagency efforts to deal with recently discovered hacking activity against government computer networks. CISA provides technical assistance to affected organizations in their work to identify and eliminate any potential unauthorized access to data by unauthorized persons, the agency’s representative explained.
