OREANDA-NEWS. Moscow welcomes Washington's readiness to jointly confront COVID-19 and allows the possibility of filing an application for registration of Russian vaccines against COVID-19 in the United States, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Ryabkov, answering the question whether it is possible in the future to apply for registration of Russian vaccines in the United States, replied that he fully admits such a possibility, because the coronavirus is a common problem. He stressed that "the more effective the joint efforts of countries in this area, the better, probably, for everyone."

Earlier in the Russian Foreign Ministry, following the results of the first telephone conversation between the head of the department Sergei Lavrov and his American counterpart Anthony Blinken, they said that the parties spoke in favor of establishing cooperation in the fight against coronavirus infection, including cooperation in the development and improvement of vaccines.

The Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation said that "one can only welcome the readiness indicated by the American side to do this. If under the current administration there are no changes for the worse here, we will do our best to promote this."

He added that the Russian specialized structures, like the relevant ministries and departments, are "very deeply immersed in the topic of international cooperation" in countering COVID-19.
